Earlier this year writer/director AVA DUVERNAY (I Will Follow) became the first African-American woman to win the Best Director Award at the Sundance Film Festival for her 2nd feature, MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. On Friday October 12, her romantic drama will open at the UA Riverview, Columbus Boulevard and Reed Streets for a limited run. We urge you to support this quality independent film during its first three days of release.

Ava DuVernay’s latest film chronicles a young woman caught between two worlds and two men in search for herself. Ruby (Emayatzy Corinealdi), a bright young medical student, sets aside her dreams when her husband (Omari Hardwick) is incarcerated. This new life challenges her to the very core, and her turbulent path propels her in new, often frightening directions of self-discovery.

MIDDLE OF NOWHERE is being distributed by AFFRM, a Black-owned film distribution company committed to releasing quality African-American Independent Film. Previous releases include I Will Follow, Kinyarwanda and Restless City. Participant Media is co-releasing the film.
