Leonila Romero is based in Mexico City where she works for the Catholic Migrant Ministry that serves the entire country of Mexico (Dimensión Pastoral de las Movilidad Humana). She works with a women’s group, Las Patronas, that provides assistance to migrants.  In both efforts her work is mostly with Central Americans who pass through Mexico on their harrowing journey to the U.S.  She monitors the shelters for migrants that exist across her country, and helps migrants secure documentation and other much-needed aid.
