Calling all creative MARO activists! Have you seen The Candle, the new newsletter for the Mid-Atlantic Region? Well, if you haven’t, you can see the current issue at: http://www.amnestyusa.org/events/mid-atlantic/pdf/volume1issue1.pdf
Do you have something you would like to contribute to the next issue? We are looking for submissions for the “Member Corner” to be written by Amnesty activists. Your submission can be about any topic: tell us about what motivates you to work on human rights issues, what has been your best AI experience, your funniest moment at an Amnesty event. Please send all submissions to knilsson@aiusa.org by September 15th. We will select one or two submissions and feature it in the next issue of The Candle, coming out at the end of September. Please keep all submissions short, at 150 words or less. Any submissions that aren’t selected for the newsletter can be featured on the MARO website, at www.amnestyusa.org/MARO.
Please contact Kelly Nilsson at knilsson@aiusa.org if you have further questions about the submission or criteria.

The Resolutions Submission Deadline for members of registered student groups is September 15, 2008. The deadline for all other members has passed.
Amnesty International is a grassroots organization. Any individual member or group of members has an opportunity to impact the mission, method, policy, or organization. Resolutions are a means by which members can influence policy on a regional, national, or international level.
A resolution is a statement directing a change in AI that can’t be accomplished by simply asking a staff member or volunteer leader. A resolution can be as simple as asking staff to clarify current procedures or as complex as requesting a change in AI’s mission. The submission form and more information are available at www.amnestyusa.org/members/resolutions. Resolutions submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
If you have any questions about the resolutions deadline, please contact our regional representative to the National Resolutions Committee, Tony Lee at tonyrlee@gmail.com.
